Climate Considerations

Architecture & Design

We've designed systems for all of these conditions. Freestanding configurations with engineered footings work well in most rear yards; rooftop installations require structural assessment of the deck and parapet, which we coordinate with a licensed structural engineer as part of the project scope.
Permitting in San Francisco
San Francisco building permits are among the most involved in the Bay Area — the Department of Building Inspection (DBI) process includes plan check, and projects in many neighborhoods require Planning Department review in addition to building permits. Rooftop structures often trigger additional review.
